Chapter seventeen

Raff

After Haldor left with Kitana, I pulled out the Earth book I had been reading through, but couldn’t focus on anything other than wanting to make my list for Kitana. So, to focus on my task, I jotted out my list, pleased that I was ahead of the game, and got back to reading my book.

I was trying to find the exact location of the crystals since Alun didn’t have an answer. I was hoping the book would, but I was getting frustrated the longer I read with no answers.

Reading until dawn, the sun was just rising when a sleepy Zane came up the stairs, rubbing his eyes. His blonde hair was sleep rumpled from going to bed with it wet, he was shirtless, showing off his pale chest and abs, wearing only a pair of tight black boxer briefs. “Hi, Daddy.” He said, after yawning.

I spun to face him, and he was instantly climbing onto my lap and curling up against my chest, “Hi baby boy. How did you sleep?”

“Would have been better if you stayed the whole night.” He whined, and I pinched his side in warning. Zane wasn’t particularly a little, but he did have little tendencies when he was tired especially.

“You know I had to take over for Hal.” He whined again, and I slapped his ass, “You already have one punishment from last night do you really want another?”

Shaking his head, he tilted to look up at me with a pout, “No Daddy.”

Reaching out I pulled his lip out of his mouth, “Then be a good boy.”

“Okay, Daddy.” He managed to fall asleep for a little bit again until Loki came storming up the stairs.

“Breakfast!” He set a tray of fresh fruit, eggs, and bacon on the dining table.

Zane woke up so fast he slid off my lap before I could stop him. “Dammit, Loki!” He yelled as he stood rubbing his ass.

Loki grabbed Zane around the waist and pulled him close. “I’m sorry, baby. Need me to kiss it and make it better?”

Zane whimpered and nodded, but before he could respond, Kitana was walking up the stairs in a skimpy sleep set of shorts and a tank top. We all stopped to watch her as she braided her hair off to the side while walking to the sofa. “Morning everyone. How did you all sleep last night?” she asked softly as she sat on the sofa away from the dining table.

When none of us answered, she looked up at us one by one, meeting my eyes last, “Ma mer, why did you sleep in the storeroom last night?” I chastised.

She looked down at her lap and shrugged, “I just don’t want to be a burden or be in the way of you guys.”

Loki cracked his knuckles, making Kitana flinch, but she stayed sitting. “Krimsone, you are not a burden. We want you here.”

Shrugging again, she looked up at Loki. “That’s what all the foster families said before they would inevitably kick me out.” Kitana picked on the skin on her thigh, leaving nail marks in her wake.
